Meet the Team

Joseph A. Daibes, DO, FACC is a five-time board-certified New Jersey interventional cardiologist specializing in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease, and advanced vein care. Born and raised in Wayne, New Jersey, he graduated from Montclair State University with a dual major in Molecular Biology and Chemistry before earning his Osteopathic Medical Degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Florida.
Dr. Daibes completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital, followed by fellowship training in Cardiovascular Disease at Mount Sinai Heart at Mount Sinai Morningside, where he served as Chief Fellow. He then returned to Lenox Hill Hospital to complete advanced fellowship training in Interventional Cardiology, gaining extensive experience in complex coronary interventions and minimally invasive cardiovascular procedures.
He is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Internal Medicine, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).
As the founder of New Jersey Heart and Vein, Dr. Daibes provides state-of-the-art interventional, cardiovascular, and vein care, with a strong focus on precision, safety, and compassion. He remains deeply committed to medical education and serves as an Assistant Professor of Cardiology, teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. His academic work includes multiple peer-reviewed publications, book chapter contributions, and conference presentations in the fields of interventional cardiology, coronary physiology, and venous disease.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Daibes values time with his family, enjoys fitness and travel, and is passionate about exploring new restaurants and staying active within the Northern New Jersey community — interests that reflect his connection to the region and his patient-centered approach to care.

Evan Nevel, DO, FACC is a quadruple board-certified New Jersey cardiologist specializing in comprehensive, evidence-based cardiovascular care. He earned his medical degree from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Hackensack Meridian Health – Palisades Medical Center. He went on to complete advanced fellowship training in Cardiovascular Disease at the Deborah Heart and Lung Center, where he trained under leading specialists and later stayed on staff caring for some of New Jersey’s most critically ill cardiac patients. This experience refined his calm clinical judgment, meticulous diagnostic approach, and commitment to patient-centered heart care.
Dr. Nevel provides the full spectrum of cardiology services, including preventive cardiology, diagnostic evaluation, and long-term management of heart conditions. He is known for his warm communication style, thoughtful bedside manner, and thorough, compassionate approach that helps patients feel supported and confident in their cardiovascular health.
He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography, and Nuclear Cardiology.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Nevel enjoys fitness, travel, discovering new restaurants, and spending time with his family. He also founded the medical apparel brand On Call, reflecting his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to elevating the clinical experience.

​Melissa Arca, PA-C is a certified Physician Assistant with strong experience in cardiology. She is known for her thorough evaluations, clear communication, and patient-centered approach to cardiovascular care.
Vera Castellano, NP is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner specializing in cardiology and chronic disease management. She focuses on prevention, education, and delivering compassionate, supportive care.

Michael Abbey, NP is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with a background in cardiovascular medicine and primary care. He is known for his attentive bedside manner, clear communication, and commitment to preventive heart health.
